Hiking trails in Nord-Lenangen

You will find plenty of hiking trails in Nord-Lenangen; you can have shorter trips lasting only a few minutes and longer trips lasting for hours or days. You may go hiking wherever you would like, it is not necessary to follow the marked trails.

If you would like a short day trip Lenangsnesset or Lyngstuva are both great destinations. If you are one of those who like longer trips you could visit Nord-Lenangsbotn and the Vaggas cabin where you can spend the night.

It is absolutely possible to bring a tent or a Lavvu (sami tent) and find an ok place to spend the night outdoors. Either by the sea, or in the mountain areas next to beautiful clean rivers and beautiful lakes.

HOW TO GET TO:

Nord-Lenangsnesset: When you get to Nord-Lenangen you can continue going north all the way to Mo, then experience the great rock formations.

-Arnenga: Use the directions on how to get to Nord-Lenangsnesset and then continue around the headland going south.

Lyngstuva: Drive until the end of the road (Russelva), park your car and walk alongside the tractor track. Afterwards follow the path going north as far as you get. You can reach the lighthouse or an old ship's wreck.

Russelvdalen: When you drive towards Russelva you will pass a tiny bridge a couple of hundred meters before you get to the turning point. Do not cross the bridge, but make a right turn and follow the tractor track for a short while, walk from there to the valley.

Storgalten: Have a look at the link ryggsekk.netor drive across the bridge in Nord-Lenangen and make a right in the first junction, follow this road to its end. From there you can reach Storgalten on foot or you can keep on driving passed the bridge all the way up to an enormous gravel extraction site and walk alongside the river.

Lenangsbotn: Drive to the bridge in Nord-Lenangen and turn to the right just before the bridge or when you have just crossed it. Follow the road to its end, park there, and continue on foot.

You will find a steep mountain when turning right after crossing the bridge. The easiest to get there is turning right before the bridge and then follow the fjord on your way to Lenangsbotn. You can choose a new trail when you are in Nord-Lenangsbotn.

-Vaggas: Continue the trip in a southern direction and in to the Vaggas valley. It is about 5 km from Nord-Lenangsbotn to Vaggas. The Vaggas cabin is owned by a local youth group, and it is possible to rent this house. There are seven beds. Vaggas has a magnificent view and very tasty drinking water from a river just next to the cabin.
